Like the magnificent former First Lady Michelle Obama said, “You can’t make decisions based on fear and the possibility of what might happen”. Don’t be afraid to just go for it! Apply for that internship, shoot your shot at who you’ve been eyeing, get out and exercise, start dancing when you feel like it, go ahead and sing even if you feel like you can’t! You always miss 100% of the shots that you don’t take, and that can be across the board, from job opportunities to relationships. Fear is a great paralyzer, but courage can always overcome fear. No matter where you are in your life right now, you can get to the place that you want to get to. You have to dream it, believe, and then go far it. That is not to say that there will be an easy road ahead, and you may have some bumps and bruises along your journey, but keep going, and don’t give up. Take it from me, when I started my organization two years ago, I just went for it. I went for it because I have a passion for helping out other young Black men, and I wanted to create an affinity space for Black men to feel comfortable and connect with resources while building a sense of community and a pipeline of support. It started with a single action, and now I have been blessed to be placed in positions and experience things that I never thought I would ever experience. All it takes is one single act of courage to make that change, and that one simple change could make all the difference in the world. You may never know if you never try!
When you take that leap of faith and just go for it, you also don’t realize just how much that can empower others. Whether people say it or not, there is a certain level of respect that people have for people who just go for it and are confident in what they do. It’s empowering, because if they can do it, then why can’t I do it? If I can do it, then why can’t you do it? Well, you absolutely can do it, and you will do it. Just go for it.
For me, this blogging is therapeutic to me, and whether one person or one thousand people read it, I am getting my message out there. This is just the beginning of my blogging experience, and there is much more to come. In one month, this whole blogging scene will look different, but this is the beginning, and you have to start somewhere. So, feel free to check out the rest of the website, and give me some feedback if you just so happen to be in the spirit! This is me trying new things. Now it’s time to try yours.
Excellent job son! You have a lot to say and the world needs to hear it. Extremely proud of the man that you are and are continuing to transition into. Don't ever forget that you're deeply loved. God bless and looking forward to what He has in store for you.
